The site is quick to mention that they are not affiliated with the Chicago Police Department but rather a non-profit group that is displaying what is already publicly accessible. The site was was developed and is maintained by a Chicago-based Web developer who wishes to remain anonymous, for privacy and security. The site was designed by a friend of the developer.
