The 2008 Formula One Season

This coming weekend the 2008 Formula One season gets under way in Melbourne, Australia. Last year the driver’s championship went down to the wire, with Kimi Räikkönen just pipping a young Lewis Hamilton to the Formula One Championship in the last race of the season. Can Hamilton go one better this year or can Räikkönen hold onto his crown?



Glotter has created a Google Map of the eighteen race tracks around the world hosting Formula One races this year. If you want to know more about each race the site also includes links to the website of each racetrack.

Glotter provides the option of embedding their map in your own website or blog through cutting and pasting a small piece of code. It even has a Google Gadget of the map.

F1 Fanatic has produced a number of maps showing the satellite images of some of the tracks involved in this year’s races.

Pinmaps on the other hand has a map pinpointing 67 motor racing tracks around the world. If you particularly like one of the tracks there is the option to cut and paste the link to the map, just like Google Maps’ own ‘link to this page’ option.



Finally Australia Grand Prix is a Google Map of the Albert Park track in Melbourne. The map is tagged with the names and number of each of the corners. Additionally the web page includes videos of the 2007 Australian Grand Prix highlighting certain sections of the Albert Park track.

I have a feeling this could be Lewis Hamilton’s year.
