London Property Google Maps Mashup

Where Can I Live?

If you live in London and you are looking for somewhere to live then you should use this great new Google Maps mashup. Where Can I Live uses Nestoria's property database to help London house buyers find properties that are within a set commuting time from where they work.

To search for properties the user enters their work address, the length of time they are willing to commute and the type and price of property they are looking for. Where Can I Live then returns a list of properties matching the entered criteria.

You can also use Where Can I Live to search for property listings around any chosen station and for more fun stuff like looking at house price statistics.

US Google Maps Mashups: Real Estate, Topo, Tennis and more!

US National Tennis Court Mashup:

Want a great way to find a tennis court anywhere in the US? TennisMaps.com comes to life with a mashup that actually took me a bit off guard when I went to review it. I wasn't expecting the overwhelming coverage of courts per city, the amount of detail for each court or the services you can interact with for each court. You've got driving directions, ratings, court details and info about nearby toilets, restaurants and hotels. Quick options to link-to or print are also built in. My only suggestion is to create a way to quickly go back to the US view with all ball markers showing.. Even if you're not a tennis buff, take a peek at this one, it's pretty well done.

MyTopo: Browse US/Canada Topo Maps!:

Topographic (topo) maps are maps that show detail about natural and man-made features in an area. A hill or mountain is represented by contour lines drawn out to show terrain. Structures are labeled or their shapes are drawn out. In addition to practical planning uses, topo maps are pretty fun and almost geo-romantic to explore. MyTopo.com lets you browse these topo maps for anywhere in the US and Canada..

Cribq: Great new Craigslist Google Maps mashup!

Cribq.com:

Alex Neth has outdone himself with his new Craigslist mashup which he named Cribq. It combines Craigslist real estate listings for Chicago, SF, Chicago, Boston with Google Maps... but it doesn't stop there. What makes this Craigslist housing mashup different from others are the tools that Alex has built into the site: Hotlists, notes, the ability to edit listings, and you can search within the map. It also uses birdseye views from Virtual Earth and integration with Walkscore, an interesting Google Maps housing tool which gives you the "walkability" of a given address. Both are found as tabs below the Google Maps view at the bottom right. Alex's own housing search spawned the creation of Cribq, as Paul Rademacher's need for housing in San Francisco spawned the first ever Google Maps hack that also mashes up with Craigslist (HousingMaps).

Craigslist Google Maps Rental Market Mashup

CraigStats is a new Google Maps rental market mashup for the city of San Francisco. It combines rental listings from Craigslist, Google Maps and FortiusOne's GeoIQ for heatmapping (see image to the right), along with several options to analyze the entire rental market or by micro-area of San Francisco. To learn more about Ethan Garner's inspiration to create CraigStats, take a look at "Overall Stats/Notes" -> "Why / Who did this?" It's an interesting story!

Museum of London: Map My London:

The Museum of London has created a very unique and thoughtful Google Maps mashup that allows you to "Map your London Moments". Here is a description from the membership confirmation email: "..Map My London will allow you to browse the memories of others or get mapping your own London. London as you remember it! The site is provided by the Museum of London and aims to collect Londoners' memories, experiences and associations of the city. You can tell your story in text, images, sound files or video clips." You can add and browse the memories by these categories: Love/Loss, Fate/Coincidence, Beauty/Horror, Joy/Struggle and Friendship/Solitude. This is a great way for a museum website to facilitate the collection of personal accounts. I can envision generations of people visiting the museum's website in the future browsing these memories and wondering what it must have been like to live in the time that we are in today. BMW's 1Off: Mapped reviews for UK cities:

To promote the new 1 Series BMW has created a Google Maps powered site for a young urban audience to explore bite-sized, handpicked reviews of experiences in UK cities (London, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Cardiff and Glasgow). "1Off" is a slick, glossy site which includes celebrity interviews and podcasts, local reviews of little-known gems, and community forums. Nice integration of Google Maps throughout, including direct links to http://maps.google.co.uk for directions and map printing. Google Maps integration also lets users get a bird’s eye view of their city’s treasures, as well as find their nearest BMW dealer (of course) to take the 1 Series out for a spin! (This site was created by Airlock with PR agency Slice and Emap).
