UK Archaeology Maps - Steve White dropped me a line to let me know about a great Google Maps archaeology mashup he's built with over 1000 locations to browse. The app exports data to RSS, MIDAS XML and KML. It also imports MIDAS XML. MIDAS XML is the UK heritage data exchange standard schema. He's also working on a WMS (MapServer) layer which he'll be adding to the interface soon. Choose "Browse", then select an item from one of the categories. Each marker has loads of information and the interface has many features to interact with the data. This is a great history maps mashup!
Find a Church near you - ACNY.org.uk (A Church Near You) has integrated their huge database with Google Maps to make finding a church even easier. Simply plug in your postcode to find a list of churches in your area (See SW1A 0AA as an example). Data comes from the Church Commissioners for England. [Via The Mapperz Blog]
West Sussex County Traffic - The West Sussex County Council has vision. Created by Mott MacDonald, they have utilized the Google Maps API to map carparks, events and road projects currently on the go. You can zoom to specific regions and also plot future looking events for the next 7, 14 and 30 days. Wouldn't it be awesome if every municipality or county council in the Google street-mapped world were to do this? This is the kind of stuff local governments need to be doing, not relying on newspaper bulletins to communicate what will affect our drive.
Look4aProperty.com has announced the launch of its new Google Maps powered UK property search feature. This new feature allows users to access a map view of their chosen real estate results by clicking upon the new "Plot Results on a Map" tab found at the top of the property results page.
