2 new Google Maps mashups track x-cons and crime.

Here are a few new mashups that take publicly accessible information and present in a Google maps fashion. Each of these joins an already growing list of sex offender and crime mapping Google Maps integrations, or "mashups". Take a look at the links along the right side of this blog for many more..

National Sex offender Google Maps mashup aggregates many sex offender databases into one map - Mapsexoffenders.com maps all sex offenders in Delaware, Montana, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Idaho, Mississippi, North Dakota, Kentucky, Arizona, Illinois, Tennessee, Wyoming, Hawaii, and Colorado, soon to map all 50 states, in an interactive easy to use way. Sex offender registries have been on the internet for many years but they are hard to find and even more difficult to use. Mapsexoffenders.com is simply a map. Each sex offender is highlighted on the map and you can zoom in to view the address, the offender and other information. The map links to the state registry for additional information such as the vehicles they drive and their convictions. Parents concerned about their neighborhood or those who are moving can use this free service to make sure they are in a safe neighborhood.
